A great aspect of Murter is its close proximity to two well known national parks - the Kornati islands and the Krka Rivers. There are daily boat tours to the Kornati islands out of the local port in Murter, and the Krka rivers are an easy 15 km drive from Sibenik. It has been documented that the island was settled even during Roman times, which confirms the remains and ruins of the old Roman town Colentium. There are also three very old beautiful churches: St. Michael's church, restored in 1770, St.Rock's chapel on the hill above the two towns of Murter and Betina built in 1760, and the church of Our Lady of Gradina, which are the oldest churches in murter. After spending your days relaxing under the sun and swimming, Murter offers an abundance of first class sea food restaurants and numerous bars and cafes for you to enjoy the warm summer nights, and if that’s not enough, with a 20 minute car ride is the town of Vodice , which has some of the best night life in all of Croatia.
